problem being that my backs are badly warn from when they were chewed up on the front. My fronts would most likely last to 35 or 40K now. I have only had very minimal wear on the the fronts in the last 5k since I replaced my track bar and steering linkage. I am at just over 25k on the Generals now, Turns out my fast wear issue was due to my track bar being warn out and taking the steering linkage with it. (this truck is 2,000 lbs heavier than the heaviest vehicle I have run them on previously, 1200 lbs of which is over the front end.) All wear seems to happen on the front end. ) They are wearing evenly and I really have no complaints about them other than they are not standing up to the weight of the front end. On the truck in my signature they are on track to go about 30k.(tires currently at 20k, and just did the 3rd tire rotation. You get some tire noise on the road but not too bad. Always lasting between 40 and 50k, and they do perform well in the snow and off road. The General grabber AT series of tires have been great tires for my family in the past, we have had them on a s10 blazer, 2 ford Rangers, a and a 96 1 ton chevy (6.5 Turbo diesel). I have general grabber AT2's on my truck currently. I think the price is a fair amount cheaper though, so you more or less get what you pay for. They were pretty similar in performance, just not nearly as good in mud and maybe not quite as good on wet pavement. Side note, I had the Mastercraft version of these tires, the AXT on my old sierra 1500. Just can't comment on tread wear really because I've only had them for 3000 miles. They took a fair bit of weight, but that could be due to the fact that I balanced them with sticky weights behind the spokes (I hate seeing weights on my rims). I've had some vibration issues, but I'm almost positive that is because the balance machine at my auto tech school is out of calibration. They also perform excellent off road, been in the mud a couple times and only had to go in 4x4 once as it was very sloppy. Had I had my Toyo ats that I replaced I would have for sure lost all traction and wrecked. On wet pavement they do well, they do a pretty good job at hydroplane resistance, actually saved my butt twice because of that. They grip well even from a wide open start they barely chirp. (I didn't and hands down best tire I've ever had on this truck).Ĭan't comment on the generals, but I recently put on a set of 315/70/17 cooper A/T3s on my 07 and I love them so far. Dodge Ram Forum - Mod Zone - Custom Dodge Ram Mods. Sure, they look good, wore well and were decent in mud and water but they throw more rocks in one moderate trip than Ferguson did the whole week of rioting!ĭo as you wish, but get you some Toyo's and never look back. I always suspected the worse but it always turned out to be the 4 Kotex's the truck was riding on! (And my father used to work for them before they pulled out of the country)!
